Q1. What is the selection criteria applied in the selection of a Project Manager?

Answer. One of the most impotent qualities of a project manager is a mature understanding of the way projects develop. This allows the nature of project activities to be better understood, problems to be seen in perspective, and needs to be assessed ahead of time. Q2.As a project manager, you will always have projects for which you must procure hardware, software, or services from outside sources. This process is procurement, and the professional project manager must have a basic understanding of the procedure so that he or she can make sure that the organization is getting the right materials at the best cost. To manage procurement, you need to go through a few processes. Explain these processes.

Answer. The vendor selection process can be a very complicated and emotional undertaking if you don’t know how to approach it from the very start. Here are few steps to help you select the right vendor for your business.

1. Analyze the Business Requirements

Before you begin to gather data or perform interviews, assemble a team of people who have a vested interest in this particular vendor selection process. In summary:

Q3. Discuss the Role of a Project manager in handling conflicts.

Answer. 1. Preventative Strategies

The first step in conflict management is learning how to prevent or minimize conflict. A team leader has several ways to do that. At the beginning of each project, or each meeting, ground rules should be developed. These should incorporate processes or behaviors that the group will allow or prohibit. These tend to be good objective guidelines that remove the leader from the role of enforcer.

Answer. A useful document that can assist with your planning efforts is the Contractor Management Plan (CMP). Creating a CMP will assist your project with defining a strategy for preparing, awarding, and if necessary, filing your purchased/personal services contract(s).

Q5. What are the different methods of forecasting in a project?

Answer. Time series

 An analysis of history–a time series–can be used by management to make current decisions and plans based on long-term forecasting. We usually assume past patterns will continue into the future. Long-range predictions are essential to allow sufficient time for the procurement, manufacturing, sales, finance, and other departments of a company to develop plans for possible new plants, financing, development of new products, and new methods of assembling.

 

Q6. Write short notes on acquiring a Project Team.

Answer. Acquiring Project Team is the process for “obtaining the human resources needed to complete the project”. The main task is to generate the project staff assignments.
